Assignment 2 - Proposal Presentation

Moving on to our second assignment! This time, we are to assigned to do a presentation based on our very own proposal as if we were producing a film. As for the previous assignment, I have been pretty much familiarised with the idea of expressionism so for the proposal, I opted for my presentation to be a short film, with the art movement of expressionism.

Whenever I am assigned a video/film related project, I would want to do something that is relatable to society, and that teenagers today could potentially agree on 100%. I ended up naming my temporary title " Life awaits ", simply because it's relevant towards the idea of life, which is what I'm going for.

The story plot  of my short film is basically about a teenage girl named Lauren who experiences being physically bullied as well cyber bullied after she was given a note from Amber, her ex friend and found over 30 spam messages sent to her. She walked the school's hallway the next day to find photoshopped photographs of herself posted everywhere and scattered all over the floor. The story goes on by showing the audience how Lauren deals with this disastrous situation as well as how she faces the bullies as she is being haunted everyday, receiving nasty text messages and online posts resulting in Lauren battling depression and anxiety.

Because I have experienced bullying and depression myself, I know exactly how this feels. You might feel weak, stressed, tired and angry sometimes, but as mentioned in my objective, there will always be light that could guide you out of the darkness and that anything is possible if you believe in yourself. Not many people are aware of this, but life in general is meant to await for you no matter what. Even if you are going through something that is bringing you down, choosing the positive over the negative is the way to go, and  it might result to improvements in life. This is  the reason why I wanted to name this video as "Life awaits", because it is a strong meaningful word that should be spread out to youth as well as parents.

The film, "Cyberbully" has got me thinking to recreate my own version of the film that is more teenage friendly, and so I did, and I'm glad  that I made the decision to do it.  My lecturer, Ms Fu,  gave  me an idea to make my film non verbal, and I think it's a brilliant idea to do so. The reason I agree is because I would want this film, specifically with this content to be very straight forward. I think that it is better to do this rather than making things complicated, plus ,it would be much more relaxed :).

The art movement that I'm aiming towards to would have to be expressionism . Because I have been so familiarised with the idea of expressionism in the last assignment, I would want both assignments to it to be connected and to  be incorporated with the idea of life. The main character Lauren, has pretty much explored the idea of the art movement throughout the entire plot because she tends of express her thoughts, feelings and emotions whenever something happens which could be seen through her face expressions.
